Teresa Kung
Teresa Kung
Pedagogical Advisor

Raised between Taiwan and Canada, Teresa has practised Chinese calligraphy for over 30 years and taught it internationally for more than ten years. With degrees from UBC (History) and NCTU (Social Research and Cultural Studies), she bridges East and West through a warm, accessible approach to Shufa—rooted in both tradition and lived experience.

After becoming a mother and navigating deep personal transitions, Teresa returned to the brush not to master it, but to find presence and inner strength. Her workshops blend aesthetic beauty with mindfulness and emotional grounding, and have reached over 2,500 learners worldwide. She played an instrumental role in founding Calligraphy Zen, a thriving brand for Shufa experiences for travellers—born in Taiwan and now expanding to Canada.

Teresa’s life’s mission is to build a robust certification system and an international association for learning Shufa—modelled after Toastmasters—so that the practice becomes a real option for mindfulness and cultural enrichment regardless of background, and something everyone can benefit from. Teresa currently leads 中華民國國際正念書法協會 (Taiwan) and Shufa Global (Online), and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Traditional Calligraphy at Tamkang University, Taiwan.
